Worth A Million Words

Language skills are picking up. Leaving to see Auntie in Vientiane on Thursday. Everyone leaves me alone or speaks Thai to me, but only because Tara is nearby; otherwise no one would even notice me. I’m sorry to say my photos will not be available until I return.
Tara loves the paintings of Buddha’s life that I used to wonder about a lot when I was young. At the insistence of a man on the street, I’m going to three or four temples to collect blessings for my whole family tomorrow at 9am. Used to be very good at this, but needed a little reminder:
With palms together touch crown of head, forehead, throat, and heart; kneel on hands and knees, touching forehead to ground very briefly and rising quickly. Perform the entire act three times. At the conclusion, once more touch hands to the crown, forehead, throat, and heart, pausing briefly at the end for contemplation

Once he said to me, everyone will look like you and you’ll be like: wow.

It is only recently that my peer group includes those who obsess about urban design and sustainability for most of the day. New terrain for my brain. I’m leaving New York for Thailand (and in a few days, Laos) and wonder of the terrestrial contrasts to come.
